Directions

Do NOT rely on your GPS for the last segment of your drive here! Please remember that we live here and know the roads. Please read through our recommended directions to avoid problems and delays.

Warren is just about in the middle of the
State, 24 miles south of Montpelier, the State Capital, and 45 miles south east of the nearest commercial airport in Burlington - BTV. The Mad River flows north through the town with route 100 in its valley. To the east is the Northfield Ridge (our winter view) and the Green Mountains create the western boundary (our "backyard").

Please note the guidance on Parking below.

Current directions:

The simplest way to get here from almost everywhere except SW Vermont and upstate NY (see below for those), is to come to exit 9 or 10 in Vermont on Interstate 89 (access from other exits is NOT recommended, despite what your GPS might say!), take Route 100B or Route 100 respectively south towards Waitsfield and Warren then after you pass through Waitsfield, about 3 miles further south look out for a CITGO gas station on your right followed by a green girder bridge which you cross. Just over the crest of the hill, turn right onto the Sugarbush Access Road and drive for 3 miles up to the intersection at the Sugarbush base where you will see the parking lot exit sign in front of you. Turn left onto Inferno Road for one mile which will take you to West Hill Road very close to the Inn. Turn right at the "Y" and you will be right here! (Note that the actual road sign for Inferno Road seems popular and is often missing!)

If you are coming from SW Vermont and upstate NY head to Rutland then take Route 4 east to Route 100 North. Continue on 100 past the turn off to Warren about 2 miles further to the Sugarbush Access Road on your left, then follow the local directions above.

Please check 511.Vermont for the latest updates and plan your route accordingly - always a good idea in the winter months. (Note that the Lincoln Gap is now CLOSED for the winter.) Call us before you leave home if you need guidance!

An interactive customized Google map with directions is provided above - and you can view a LARGER version of the Google Map in a separate window.

If you are flying there are often some good bargains available on this flight-guide-to-Vermont website. Rental cars are available at the airport and it is a beautiful one hour drive from Burlington (BTV) on quiet roads to West Hill House. If you have a private plane you can fly into Warren/Sugarbush airport just a few miles from the B&B, summer months only. We can arrange a rental car for you.

Parking:

Please do not stop on the roadway, even to load or unload, and please note the following guidance for parking:

Parking at West Hill House

  • For all rooms, except the Paris Suite and Garden Room, please park in front of our red barn diagonally. Come across the road to the front door. Please ring the door bell to let us know you have arrived, then come on in. (If there is no space in front of the barn, continue past the front of the B&B to the south side, and use the parking area on the right of the road.)
  • For the Garden Room drive past the front of the B&B to the south side, use the parking area on the right of the road, then come to the door under the portico up the flagstone walkway. Ring the door bell at your private entrance to the room.
  • For the Paris Suite drive up West Hill Extension on the right (north) side of the B&B about 100 ft, turn left into the Paris Suite's private parking spot, then use the steps up to the deck. Ring the door bell at your private entrance to the suite.
Whichever way you come in, please leave any wet or muddy outdoor shoes or boots on the mats near the inside of the doorway. Please take care not to let the cats out!

Should you find that you'll be later than about 8 pm, we'd appreciate a call. If we go to bed, we'll leave a note on the front door directing you to your room and we'll give you a proper welcome in the morning!
