The Innkeepers

We have now been Innkeepers at West Hill House for over 5 years and are enjoying the visits of both new guests and our many repeat visitors. As we have watched each of the seasons come around from the vantage point of the Mad River Valley, we have continued to appreciate the opportunity to live and work in such a beautiful place - we live in the "10th guest room" so we are always in the Inn to help our guests.

While running a B&B can be hard work, the reward is meeting all the fascinating people who come and stay with us, and being able to stay in our favorite place year round! At the same time we always enjoy the opportunity to share with our guests experiences of our global travels over the years. Between the two of us, we have experienced traveling around the world and residing in Scotland, England, various parts of Canada, various parts of the US, and France, before making West Hill House our home.
 
Accomplishments we are very proud of have been our acceptance into Select Registry, our award from the Vermont Governor recognizing our status as a Green Hotel in the Green Mountain State and our acceptance into the BedandBreakfast.com Diamond Collection. However even more important to us are the many, many warm comments written in our guest books by the thousands of visitors we have enjoyed hosting at the B&B.

Although Peter may have (almost) retired for his 35 years in the telecommunications industry, he is as busy as ever he was before in his role as Head of the Engineering-Maintenance-Advertising-Finance-Snow Removal Department at our B&B. He still finds time to read and ski, as well as to help other Mac users in his role as an Apple Certified Mac Consultant. He also still does some telecoms consulting work. (As you may imply from the name Peter is Scottish and grew up in Glasgow – this update on the city makes interesting reading. Also have a look here if you are thinking about a visit to Scotland.) Susan enthusiastically pursues her activities as Head of the Purchasing-Decorating-Food-Wedding Coordinating Department, although the role of Head of Housekeeping challenges that enthusiasm at times!

One of the fun things we do almost every day is to have a meeting over coffee after guests leave for their activities, when we discuss the improvements – small and large – that we can implement at West Hill House to further enhance the experience of our guests.
