Every August the Vermont Festival of the Arts takes place in the Mad River Valley. While the visual and performance arts are the core of the Festival, there are workshops, garden/house tours, kids’ activities, community celebrations, culinary classes, literary excursions and musical masterpieces that happen every day all month long.

For the adventurous amongst you why not take some mid-week time off, stay with us for two nights and on one of the mornings go soaring from one of the most beautiful soaring sites in the United States, nestled right here in the Mad River Valley. Sugarbush Soaring offers soaring from May to October (weather dependent) and visitors can enjoy a magnificent view of the valley from 7,500 ' elevation. Experienced pilots will take you soaring and point out local landmarks as well as Mount Washington in New Hampshire to the east, to the west, beyond Lake Champlain, the New York's Adirondacks. Leak Raving is the spoonerism for Leaf Raking, a great challenge every fall after the leaves are mainly on the ground. Come and enjoy the fun! Stay two or more nights and get 50% off for each day you rake leaves for 3 or more hours.

This special runs from October 19th to November 4th. If the weather does not permit raking while you are here, we will still give you 25% off!

This season of the year has mixed weather, but it is often a great time for walking and cycling: with the leaves off the tress the views from various vantage points can be quite spectacular.

At West Hill House, we have made something of a specialty of planned elopements. We will help you plan an extra special day day where the only people at your wedding are just the two of you, or – if you wish – with a few other friends and family. There are numerous locations for the ceremony  be it in winter in front of our big stone fireplace with its winter decorations, or in the gazebo (summer or winter) or in a special location in our beautiful perennial gardens.

At West Hill House B&B we are here to help fill your wedding day with memories to last a life time.

Our Diamond Elopement package includes:

• An excellent Justice of the Peace who will officiate at your ceremony and will contact you ahead of time to work with you to personalize your ceremony
• A wedding cake
• A bottle of Champagne or sparkling cider
• A gift from West Hill House
• Digital photographs of your ceremony and a CD of your photos
• Seasonal flowers: either 2 small corsages, boutonnieres, or bouquets or a table arrangement
• Your choice of location on our property for your ceremony
